Frequently Asked Questions

For New Clients

How do I register my pet?
You can register online using our New Client Form or by calling our reception team. We’ll gather a few details and book your first appointment.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring any previous medical records, vaccination history, and a list of current medications (if applicable). For dogs, a lead is essential; for cats and small animals, a secure carrier is recommended.

Appointments & Emergencies

Do I need to book an appointment?
We recommend booking in advance so we can give each patient the time they deserve. Walk-ins may be accommodated for urgent cases, but please call ahead if possible.
What should I do in an emergency?
Call us immediately on (03) 349 9946. If your emergency occurs outside our regular hours, you will be directed to our after-hours service.

Small Animal Care

When should I vaccinate my puppy or kitten?
Puppies and kittens need a series of vaccinations starting at 6–8 weeks of age, with boosters until 16 weeks. We’ll provide you with a tailored vaccination schedule.
Does my pet really need annual check-ups?
Yes. Annual health checks help detect problems early, keep vaccinations up to date, and provide an opportunity to review diet, weight, and preventive care.
Do you recommend specific pet foods?
We stock and recommend premium diets such as Hill’s Science Diet and Royal Canin, tailored to your pet’s needs and life stage.

Equine Care

How often does my horse need dental work?
Most horses benefit from an annual dental exam, but younger and older horses may require more frequent care.
Do you offer pre-purchase exams?
Yes. A pre-purchase examination helps identify potential issues before you commit to buying a horse.

Payments & Policies

What payment options do you offer?
Payment is required at the time of service. We accept EFTPOS, credit card, Afterpay and bank transfer. Please talk to us in advance if you need alternative arrangements.
Do you offer pet insurance advice?
